Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb chicken breast, cut into strips
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- Oil for frying
- Chopped green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken:
- Season chicken strips with salt, pepper, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
- Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls:
- One with flour mixed with cornstarch.
- Another with beaten eggs.
- The last one with breadcrumbs.
- Bread the Chicken:
- Dredge each chicken strip in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
- Dip in the beaten eggs, and then coat with breadcrumbs. Press gently to adhere.
- Place breaded strips on a plate or a baking sheet.
- Fry the Chicken:
- Heat oil in a deep pan or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry chicken strips in batches, about 4-5 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove from oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Prepare the Sauce:
- In a saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, and minced garlic.
- Simmer over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
- Coat the Chicken:
- Place the fried chicken strips in a large bowl.
- Pour the honey garlic sauce over the strips and toss to coat evenly.
- Garnish and Serve:
- Optionally sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onions over the chicken strips.
- Serve hot.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, double coat the chicken: dip back into the egg and breadcrumbs after the first coating.
- Adjust sweetness or saltiness by modifying the honey and soy sauce ratio.
- For a healthier option, bake the chicken strips at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes instead of frying.
