Enjoy your Crispy Honey Garlic Chicken Strips!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into strips
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • Oil for frying
  • Chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken:
    • Season chicken strips with salt, pepper, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
    • Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls:
    • One with flour mixed with cornstarch.
    • Another with beaten eggs.
    • The last one with breadcrumbs.
  2. Bread the Chicken:
    • Dredge each chicken strip in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
    • Dip in the beaten eggs, and then coat with breadcrumbs. Press gently to adhere.
    • Place breaded strips on a plate or a baking sheet.
  3. Fry the Chicken:
    • Heat oil in a deep pan or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
    • Fry chicken strips in batches, about 4-5 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
    • Remove from oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  4. Prepare the Sauce:
    • In a saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, and minced garlic.
    • Simmer over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
  5. Coat the Chicken:
    • Place the fried chicken strips in a large bowl.
    • Pour the honey garlic sauce over the strips and toss to coat evenly.
  6. Garnish and Serve:
    • Optionally sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onions over the chicken strips.
    • Serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, double coat the chicken: dip back into the egg and breadcrumbs after the first coating.
  • Adjust sweetness or saltiness by modifying the honey and soy sauce ratio.
  • For a healthier option, bake the chicken strips at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes instead of frying.
