Description

A deliciously spicy and crispy chicken dish served with a creamy Bang Bang sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Sriracha sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • Chopped green onions
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the bite-sized chicken pieces with buttermilk. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes while you prepare the sauce.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, Sriracha, and honey until smooth. Set the Bang Bang sauce aside.
  3. In a shallow dish, mix the flour with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing any excess to drip off. Dredge the chicken pieces in the seasoned flour mixture, pressing to coat evenly.
  5. Heat about 1/2 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is shimmering, carefully add the chicken pieces in a single layer, working in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  6. Fry for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature reaches 165°F). Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
  7. Place the fried chicken in a large bowl. Drizzle with the Bang Bang sauce and toss gently to coat.
  8. Serve immediately, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • This chicken can be served as an appetizer or main dish.
  • Adjust the spiciness by altering the amount of Sriracha sauce.
  • For a crunchier texture, double-dredge the chicken by dipping in buttermilk and then flour mixture twice.
