Description
A delicious recipe for Pan-Fried Stuffed Meat Flatbread filled with savory ground meat and spices.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 1 pound ground beef or lamb
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
- Optional: yogurt or dipping sauce
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add olive oil and gradually mix in the warm water until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.
- Prepare the Filling: In a medium pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic, sauté until translucent. Add ground meat, breaking it up with a spatula. Season with cumin, paprika, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Cook until the meat is browned and cooked through. Stir in chopped parsley and remove from heat.
- Assemble the Flatbreads: Divide the dough into 4-6 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and then flatten it into a disc. Place about 2 tablespoons of filling onto each disc. Fold the dough over the filling, pinching the edges to seal. Flatten slightly.
- Cook the Flatbreads: Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and brush with olive oil. Place the stuffed flatbreads in the pan, cooking for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Ensure both sides are cooked evenly and the filling is heated through.
Notes
- Adjust the spices according to your taste preferences.
- Ensure the edges of the flatbread are sealed well to prevent filling from leaking.
- Serve with a side of yogurt or your favorite dipping sauce for added flavor.
- If you prefer a vegetarian option, replace the meat with a mix of sautéed mushrooms and spinach.
