Description

This Orange Walnut Date Bread is a delightful and moist loaf packed with the richness of dates and walnuts, perfect for a snack or breakfast.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup pitted Medjool dates
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 zest of orange
  • ¼ cup freshly squeezed orange juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan with butter or nonstick spray.
  2. In a bowl, soak chopped dates in boiling water for about 10 minutes until plump; drain and set aside.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
  4. In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Add eggs one at a time to the butter-sugar mixture; mix well after each addition. Stir in orange zest, juice, and soaked dates.
  6. Gradually fold in the dry ingredients until just combined; gently fold in walnuts.
  7. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
