Description

This Christmas Pretzel Bark is a festive treat that combines crunchy pretzels, rich chocolate, and colorful toppings, perfect for the holiday season.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup salted butter
  • 1 cup light brown sugar (packed)
  • 6 cups small pretzel twists (about 1/2 bag, or enough to cover the baking sheet)
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips (milk chocolate may be substituted if desired)
  • 1 cup red and green M&Ms (or as needed)
  • as needed Christmas sprinkles
  • 2 squares (about 2 ounces, divided) almond bark (optional)
  • as needed red food coloring (optional, preferably gel)
  • as needed green food coloring (optional, preferably gel)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or nonstick foil, and spray both with cooking spray.
  2. Evenly sprinkle the pretzels over the baking sheet; set aside.
  3. In a medium saucepan, add the butter and brown sugar, and heat over medium-high to melt. Stir continuously. Once bubbling and melted, simmer gently for 1 minute.
  4. Pour the sauce over the pretzels and place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for about 7 minutes to continue cooking the caramel sauce.
  5. Rotate the pan once midway through baking if desired.
  6. Remove the pan from the oven and evenly sprinkle with chocolate chips, using a spatula or knife to melt and spread them into the caramel layer.
  7. If chocolate doesn’t melt easily, place the baking sheet back in the oven for 1-2 minutes.
  8. Evenly sprinkle with M&Ms and sprinkles before the chocolate sets up.
  9. Optionally, melt the almond bark in two bowls, adding red food coloring to one and green to the other. Stir and mix to achieve desired color intensity.
  10. Transfer colored almond bark into zip-top baggies, seal, snip the corners, and drizzle over the bark.
  11. Allow the bark to cool completely at room temperature before enjoying.
  12. For cooling and setting, allow the bark to sit at room temperature for 1-2 hours or until set.
  13. Break into pieces or use a sharp knife to slice on a cutting board if desired.

Notes

  • Do not use bargain nonstick foil as it may stick and tear.
  • Chilling the bark in the fridge may cause the chocolate to appear dull.
  • Store in an airtight container for best freshness.
